ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
tis jan ke sabh kaaj savaar |all his affairs are resolved.
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
tis kaa raakhaa eko soe |The One Lord is his Protector.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪੜਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭॥
jan naanak aparr na saakai koe |4|4|17|O servant Nanak, no one can equal him. ||4||4||17||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bhairau mahalaa 5 |Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥
tau karreeai je hovai baahar |We should feel sad, if God were beyond us.
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਰਹਰਿ ॥
tau karreeai je visarai narahar |We should feel sad, if we forget the Lord.
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਏ ॥
tau karreeai je doojaa bhaae |We should feel sad, if we are in love with duality.
ਕਿਆ ਕੜੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੧॥
kiaa karreeai jaan rahiaa samaae |1|But why should we feel sad? The Lord is pervading everywhere. ||1||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੜੇ ਕੜਿ ਪਚਿਆ ॥
maaeaa mohi karre karr pachiaa |In love and attachment to Maya, the mortals are sad, and are consumed by sadness.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਖਪਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin naavai bhram bhram bhram khapiaa |1| rahaau |Without the Name, they wander and wander and wander, and waste away. ||1||Pause||
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
tau karreeai je doojaa karataa |We should feel sad, if there were another Creator Lord.
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਅਨਿਆਇ ਕੋ ਮਰਤਾ ॥
tau karreeai je aniaae ko marataa |We should feel sad, if someone dies by injustice.
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
tau karreeai je kichh jaanai naahee |We should feel sad, if something were not known to the Lord.
ਕਿਆ ਕੜੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
kiaa karreeai jaan bharapoor samaahee |2|But why should we feel sad? The Lord is totally permeating everywhere. ||2||
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ਧਿਙਾਣੈ ॥
tau karreeai je kichh hoe dhingaanai |We should feel sad, if God were a tyrant.
ਤਉ ਕੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਭੂਲਿ ਰੰਞਾਣੈ ॥
tau karreeai je bhool ranyaanai |We should feel sad, if He made us suffer by mistake.
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਜੋ ਹੋਇ ਸਭੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ॥
gur kahiaa jo hoe sabh prabh te |The Guru says that whatever happens is all by God's Will.
ਤਬ ਕਾੜਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਮ ਸੋਤੇ ॥੩॥
tab kaarraa chhodd achint ham sote |3|So I have abandoned sadness, and I now sleep without anxiety. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੂਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
prabh toohai tthaakur sabh ko teraa |O God, You alone are my Lord and Master; all belong to You.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥
jiau bhaavai tiau kareh niberaa |According to Your Will, You pass judgement.
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਨਾਸਤਿ ਇਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
duteea naasat ik rahiaa samaae |There is no other at all; the One Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੮॥
raakhahu paij naanak saranaae |4|5|18|Please save Nanak's honor; I have come to Your Sanctuary. ||4||5||18||

ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਜੇ ਕੈਸੋ ਨਿਰਤਿਕਾਰੀ ॥
bin baaje kaiso niratikaaree |Without music, how is one to dance?
ਬਿਨੁ ਕੰਠੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੀ ॥
bin kantthai kaise gaavanahaaree |Without a voice, how is one to sing?
ਜੀਲ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਬਜੈ ਰਬਾਬ ॥
jeel binaa kaise bajai rabaab |Without strings, how is a guitar to be played?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ॥੧॥
naam binaa birathe sabh kaaj |1|Without the Naam, all affairs are useless. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਕੋ ਤਰਿਆ ॥
naam binaa kahahu ko tariaa |Without the Naam - tell me: who has ever been saved?
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈਸੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bin satigur kaise paar pariaa |1| rahaau |Without the True Guru, how can anyone cross over to the other side? ||1||Pause||
ਬਿਨੁ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਬਕਤਾ ॥
bin jihavaa kahaa ko bakataa |Without a tongue, how can anyone speak?
ਬਿਨੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਸੁਨਤਾ ॥
bin sravanaa kahaa ko sunataa |Without ears, how can anyone hear?
ਬਿਨੁ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਪੇਖੈ ॥
bin netraa kahaa ko pekhai |Without eyes, how can anyone see?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਰੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ ॥੨॥
naam binaa nar kahee na lekhai |2|Without the Naam, the mortal is of no account at all. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਕਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥
bin bidiaa kahaa koee panddit |Without learning, how can one be a Pandit - a religious scholar?
ਬਿਨੁ ਅਮਰੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਰਾਜ ਮੰਡਿਤ ॥
bin amarai kaise raaj manddit |Without power, what is the glory of an empire?
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਕਹਾ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਨਾ ॥
bin boojhe kahaa man tthaharaanaa |Without understanding, how can the mind become steady?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ॥੩॥
naam binaa sabh jag bauraanaa |3|Without the Naam, the whole world is insane. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਕਹਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥
bin bairaag kahaa bairaagee |Without detachment, how can one be a detached hermit?
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਉ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਹਾ ਕੋਊ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥
bin hau tiaag kahaa koaoo tiaagee |Without renouncing egotism, how can anyone be a renunciate?
ਬਿਨੁ ਬਸਿ ਪੰਚ ਕਹਾ ਮਨ ਚੂਰੇ ॥
bin bas panch kahaa man choore |Without overcoming the five thieves, how can the mind be subdued?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੇ ॥੪॥
naam binaa sad sad hee jhoore |4|Without the Naam, the mortal regrets and repents forever and ever. ||4||
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਕੈਸੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
bin gur deekhiaa kaise giaan |Without the Guru's Teachings, how can anyone obtain spiritual wisdom?
ਬਿਨੁ ਪੇਖੇ ਕਹੁ ਕੈਸੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
bin pekhe kahu kaiso dhiaan |Without seeing - tell me: how can anyone visualize in meditation?
ਬਿਨੁ ਭੈ ਕਥਨੀ ਸਰਬ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
bin bhai kathanee sarab bikaar |Without the Fear of God, all speech in useless.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੫॥੬॥੧੯॥
kahu naanak dar kaa beechaar |5|6|19|Says Nanak, this is the wisdom of the Lord's Court. ||5||6||19||
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਉ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
haumai rog maanukh kau deenaa |Mankind is afflicted with the disease of egotism.
ਕਾਮ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਬਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
kaam rog maigal bas leenaa |The disease of sexual desire overwhelms the elephant.
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥
drisatt rog pach mue patangaa |Because of the disease of vision, the moth is burnt to death.
ਨਾਦ ਰੋਗਿ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
naad rog khap ge kurangaa |1|Because of the disease of the sound of the bell, the deer is lured to its death. ||1||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਰੋਗੀ ॥
jo jo deesai so so rogee |Whoever I see is diseased.
ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rog rahit meraa satigur jogee |1| rahaau |Only my True Guru, the True Yogi, is free of disease. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੀਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆਨੋ ॥
jihavaa rog meen grasiaano |Because of the disease of taste, the fish is caught.
ਬਾਸਨ ਰੋਗਿ ਭਵਰੁ ਬਿਨਸਾਨੋ ॥
baasan rog bhavar binasaano |Because of the disease of smell, the bumble bee is destroyed.
ਹੇਤ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
het rog kaa sagal sansaaraa |The whole world is caught in the disease of attachment.
ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਰੋਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
tribidh rog meh badhe bikaaraa |2|In the disease of the three qualities, corruption is multiplied. ||2||
ਰੋਗੇ ਮਰਤਾ ਰੋਗੇ ਜਨਮੈ ॥
roge marataa roge janamai |In disease the mortals die, and in disease they are born.
ਰੋਗੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮੈ ॥
roge fir fir jonee bharamai |In disease they wander in reincarnation again and again.
