ਏਕ ਮਨੁ ਆਠ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਪਾਂਚ ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕ ਚਾਰਿ ਫਾਰ ਫਾਰ ਦੋਇ ਫਾਰ ਹੈ ।

ek man aatth khandd khandd khandd paanch ttook ttook ttook chaar faar faar doe faar hai |

A maund (Indian weight measure of past) divided into eight parts makes eight parts of five seer each. Each part when divided into five parts make five pieces of one seer (Indian weight measure) each. If each seer divided into four parts, then each quarter

ਤਾਹੂ ਤੇ ਪਈਸੇ ਅਉ ਪਈਸਾ ਏਕ ਪਾਂਚ ਟਾਂਕ ਟਾਂਕ ਟਾਂਕ ਮਾਸੇ ਚਾਰਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਹੈ ।

These half paos are then reduced to Sarsahi. Each Sarsahi contains five Tank. Each Tank has four Mashas. Thus these weight measures have much spread.

ਮਾਸਾ ਏਕ ਆਠ ਰਤੀ ਰਤੀ ਆਠ ਚਾਵਰ ਕੀ ਹਾਟ ਹਾਟ ਕਨੁ ਕਨੁ ਤੋਲ ਤੁਲਾਧਾਰ ਹੈ ।

maasaa ek aatth ratee ratee aatth chaavar kee haatt haatt kan kan tol tulaadhaar hai |

One masha contains eight ratis (a small red and black seed of Allarams, used as a weight measure by jewellers for weighing gold) and one rati has eight grains of rice. Thus are being weighed items in a shop.

ਪੁਰ ਪੁਰ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਕਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਸਿ ਆਵੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਏਤੋ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ਹੈ ।੨੨੯।

pur pur poor rahe sakal sansaar bikhai bas aavai kaise jaa ko eto bisathaar hai |229|

This is the spread of a maund in the cities of the world. A mind which has such an expanse of lust, anger, avarice attachment, arrogance, desires and other vices, how can that mind be controlled? (229)
