chandan kee baar jaise deejeeat baboor drum kanchan sanpatt madh kaach geh raakheeai |

Just as a plant of acacia is protected with the twigs of sandalwood or a glass crystal is stored in a gold box for safety.

jaise hans paas baitth baaeis garab karai mrig pat bhavan mai janbak bhalaakheeai |

just as a filth-eating crow expresses pride of his beauty and life-style or a jackal expresses his desire to go into the lion's den,

jaise garadhab gaj prat upahaas karai chakavai ko chor ddaandde doodh mad maakheeai |

Just as a donkey makes fun of an elephant and an emperor be punished by a thief; wine expresses its anger on milk.

saadhan duraae kai asaadh aparaadh karai ulatteeai chaal kaleekaal bhram bhaakheeai |532|
