ਜੈਸੇ ਕੁਲਾ ਬਧੂ ਗੁਰ ਜਨ ਮੈ ਘੂਘਟ ਪਟ ਸਿਹਜਾ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਸਮੈ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨ ਪੀਅ ਸੈ ।
jaise kulaa badhoo gur jan mai ghooghatt patt sihajaa sanjog samai antar na peea sai |

Just as a daughter-in-law covers herself with veil in front of the elders of the house, but keeps no distance from her husband at the time of sharing his bed;

ਜੈਸੇ ਮਣਿ ਅਛਤ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਹੀ ਸਹਿਤ ਅਹਿ ਬੰਕ ਤਨ ਸੂਧੋ ਬਿਲ ਪੈਸਤ ਹੁਇ ਜੀਅ ਸੈ ।
jaise man achhat kuttanb hee sahit eh bank tan soodho bil paisat hue jeea sai |

Just as a snake remains crooked when with female snake and his family, but becomes straight when it enters in the burrow;

ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਛਤ ਨ ਬੋਲੈ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੈ ਪਾਛੇ ਕੈ ਦੈ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਮੋਹ ਸੁਤ ਤੀਅ ਸੈ ।
maataa pitaa achhat na bolai sut banitaa sai paachhe kai dai sarabas moh sut teea sai |

Just as a son avoids talking to his wife in front of his parents, but when alone showers all his love upon her,

ਲੋਗਨ ਮੈ ਲੋਗਾਚਾਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਉਨਮਨ ਮਨ ਹੀਅ ਸੈ ।੪੧।
