ਛਤ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਜੈਸੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਛਤਨਾ ਕੀ ਛਾਂਹ ਹੀਰਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਬਦਲੇ ਫਟਕ ਕਉ ਪਾਈਐ ।
chhatr ke badale jaise baitthe chhatanaa kee chhaanh heeraa amolak badale fattak kau paaeeai |Sitting under a small umbrella leaving the royal canopy and taking a glass crystal in place of a diamond would be a foolish act.
ਜੈਸੇ ਮਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਕਾਚੁ ਗੁੰਜਾਫਲੁ ਕਾਬਰੀ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਕੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਓਢਾਈਐ ।
jaise man kanchan ke badale kaach gunjaafal kaabaree pattanbar ke badale odtaaeeai |Accepting glass pieces in place of rubies, seeds of Abrus Precatorius in place of gold or wearing a tattered blanket in place of silk apparel would be an indication of base wisdom.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮਿਸਟਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਕੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਕਰੀਫਲ ਕੇਸਰ ਕਪੂਰ ਜਿਉ ਕਚੂਰ ਲੈ ਲਗਾਈਐ ।

ਭੇਟਤ ਅਸਾਧ ਸੁਖ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੂਖਮ ਹੋਤ ਸਾਗਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਜੈਸੇ ਬੇਲੀ ਮੈ ਸਮਾਈਐ ।੩੮੯।
