ਜੈਸੇ ਪਰ ਦਾਰਾ ਕੋ ਦਰਸੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਚਾਹੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਤ ਹੈ ਨ ਚਾਹ ਕੈ ।
jaise par daaraa ko daras drig dekhio chaahai taise gur darasan dekhat hai na chaah kai |Just as a forgetful person does not desire a glimpse of his Guru with the same intensity that he uses his eyes to ogle at other women.
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸੁਨੈ ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਨੈ ਨ ਉਤਸਾਹ ਕੈ ।
jaise par nindaa sunai saavadhaan surat kai taise gur sabad sunai na utasaah kai |Just as a worldly man listens to the slander of other persons very attentively, he does not listen to the divine words of Guru with same fondness.
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਰ ਦਰਬ ਹਰਨ ਕਉ ਚਰਨ ਧਾਵੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਨ ਉਮਾਹ ਕੈ ।
jaise par darab haran kau charan dhaavai taise keeratan saadhasangat na umaah kai |Just as a person greedy of wealth walks a distance to cheat another person of his hard earned money, he does not show the same enthusiasm of going to the divine congregation to listen to the adulations of Almighty.
ਉਲੂ ਕਾਗ ਨਾਗਿ ਧਿਆਨ ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਕਉ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਊਚ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਨੀਚ ਪਦੁ ਗਾਹ ਕੈ ।੫੦੮।
