ਜੈਸੇ ਤੌ ਪ੍ਰਸੂਤ ਸਮੈ ਸਤ੍ਰੂ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਐ ਜਨਮਤ ਸੁਤ ਪੁਨ ਰਚਤ ਸਿੰਗਾਰੈ ਜੀ ।

jaise tau prasoot samai satraoo kar maanai priaai janamat sut pun rachat singaarai jee |

Just as a woman considers her husband as her enemy at the time of undergoing labour pains, but after the birth of the child, she re-indulges in adorning and embellishing herself in order to please and entice her husband,

ਜੈਸੇ ਬੰਦਸਾਲਾ ਬਿਖੈ ਭੂਪਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਛੂਟਤ ਹੀ ਵਾਹੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਮਿ ਕਾਮਹਿ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਜੀ ।

jaise bandasaalaa bikhai bhoopat kee nindaa karai chhoottat hee vaahee svaam kaameh samhaarai jee |

Just as a well-wisher of a king is put in jail for some mistake and on his release the same courtier performs the assigned task as a true well-wisher of the king,

ਜੈਸੇ ਹਰ ਹਾਇ ਗਾਇ ਸਾਸਨਾ ਸਹਤ ਨਿਤ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਕੁਟੇਵਹਿ ਨ ਡਾਰੈ ਜੀ ।

jaise har haae gaae saasanaa sahat nit kabahoon na samajhai kutteveh na ddaarai jee |

Just as a thief when caught and imprisoned is ever lamenting but as soon as his sentence ends, re-indulges in theft not learns from his punishment,

ਤੈਸੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੋਖ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਪਹਿ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ੍ਯੋ ਚਾਹੈ ਸੰਕਟ ਮਿਟਤ ਪੁਨ ਪਾਪਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਜੀ ।੫੭੭।

taise dukh dokh paapee paapeh tayaagayo chaahai sankatt mittat pun paapeh beechaarai jee |577|

Similarly, a sinful man wants to leave his evil deeds because of pain and sufferings that these have caused him but as soon as the sentenced punishment period is over, re-indulges in these vices. (577)
