ਜੈਸੇ ਬਛੁਰਾ ਬਿਲਲਾਤ ਮਾਤ ਮਿਲਬੇ ਕਉ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੈ ਬਸਿ ਕਛੁ ਬਸੁ ਨ ਬਸਾਤ ਹੈ ।

jaise bachhuraa bilalaat maat milabe kau bandhan kai bas kachh bas na basaat hai |

Just as a calf writhes and wriggles to meet his mother but tethered with rope makes him helpless.

ਜੈਸੇ ਤਉ ਬਿਗਾਰੀ ਚਾਹੈ ਭਵਨ ਗਵਨ ਕੀਓ ਪਰ ਬਸਿ ਪਰੇ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਹੀ ਬਿਹਾਤ ਹੈ ।

jaise tau bigaaree chaahai bhavan gavan keeo par bas pare chitavat hee bihaat hai |

Just as a person caught in forced or unpaid labour wants to go home and spends time planning while remaining in other's control.

ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਰਹਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੰਗਮ ਸਨੇਹੁ ਚਾਹੇ ਲਾਜ ਕੁਲ ਅੰਕਸ ਕੈ ਦੁਰਬਲ ਗਾਤ ਹੈ ।

jaise birahanee pria sangam sanehu chaahe laaj kul ankas kai durabal gaat hai |

Just as a wife separated from her husband wants love and union but cannot do so for fear of family shame and thus loses her physical attraction.

ਤੈਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਚਾਹੈ ਸਿਖੁ ਆਗਿਆ ਬਧ ਰਹਤ ਬਿਦੇਸ ਅਕੁਲਾਤ ਹੈ ।੫੨੦।

taise gur charan saran sukh chaahai sikh aagiaa badh rahat bides akulaat hai |520|

Similarly a true disciple wants to enjoy the pleasures of the refuge of True Guru but bound by his command he wanders around dejectedly in another place. (520)
