ਰੂਪ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਰੀਝੈ ਰੂਪਵੰਤ ਹੀ ਰਿਝਾਇ ਲੇਹਿ ਬਲ ਕੈ ਜੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਗਹਿ ਰਾਖਹੀ ।

roop ke jo reejhai roopavant hee rijhaae lehi bal kai ju milai balavant geh raakhahee |

If God-the husband Lord could be enticed by some form of beauty, then beautiful people would have enticed Him. And had He been reached by force, then great warriors would have overpowered Him.

ਦਰਬ ਕੈ ਜੋ ਪਾਈਐ ਦਰਬੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਲੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਬਿਤਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਬੀਸ੍ਵਰ ਅਭਿਲਾਖ ਹੀ ।

darab kai jo paaeeai darabesvar le jaeh taeh kabitaa kai paaeeai kabeesvar abhilaakh hee |

If He could be acquired by money and wealth, rich people would have purchased Him. And if he could be obtained by recitation of a poems then great poets desirous of reaching Him would have reached Him through their art.

ਜੋਗ ਕੈ ਜੋ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਟਾ ਮੈ ਦੁਰਾਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਭੋਗ ਕੈ ਜੋ ਪਾਈਐ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗੀ ਰਸ ਚਾਖ ਹੀ ।

jog kai jo paaeeai jogee jattaa mai duraae raakhai bhog kai jo paaeeai bhog bhogee ras chaakh hee |

If the Lord could be reached by Yogic practices, then the Yogis would have hidden Him in their big tresses. And if he was reachable through consummation of materials, then materialistic people would have reached Him through their relishments.

ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹ ਜਤਨ ਪਾਨ ਪਰਤ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਏਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਖ ਹੀ ।੬੦੭।

nigrah jatan paan parat na praan maan praanapat ek gur sabad subhaakh hee |607|

The Lord dearest than life is not captured or overpowered by controlling or giving up the use of senses or any other efforts. He can only be reached by meditating upon the words of the True Guru. (607)
