gaanddaa mai mitthaas taas chhilakaa na leeo jaae daaram aau daakh bikhai beej geh ddaareeai |

As the sweet juice of the sugarcane is taken and the cane is discarded; as the seeds in pomegranate and grapes are discarded;

aanb khiranee chhahaaraa maajh gutthalee katthor kharaboojaa aau kaleedaa sajal bikaareeai |

Mango, dates have their endocarps hard; melon and watermelons though sweet release water and become unworthy of consumption very soon;

madh maakhee mai maleen samai paae safal hue ras bas bhe nahee trisanaa nivaareeai |

The honey when cleaned of the bees and the wax become hard to give up eating it;

sree gur sabad ras amrit nidhaan paan gurasikh saadhasang janam savaareeai |109|

Similarly a Sikh of the Guru, relishes the elixir-like Naam in the company of holy men and makes his life a success. (109)
