ਗਾਂਡਾ ਮੈ ਮਿਠਾਸੁ ਤਾਸ ਛਿਲਕਾ ਨ ਲੀਓ ਜਾਇ ਦਾਰਮ ਅਉ ਦਾਖ ਬਿਖੈ ਬੀਜੁ ਗਹਿ ਡਾਰੀਐ ।
gaanddaa mai mitthaas taas chhilakaa na leeo jaae daaram aau daakh bikhai beej geh ddaareeai |As the sweet juice of the sugarcane is taken and the cane is discarded; as the seeds in pomegranate and grapes are discarded;
ਆਂਬ ਖਿਰਨੀ ਛਹਾਰਾ ਮਾਝ ਗੁਠਲੀ ਕਠੋਰ ਖਰਬੂਜਾ ਅਉ ਕਲੀਦਾ ਸਜਲ ਬਿਕਾਰੀਐ ।
aanb khiranee chhahaaraa maajh gutthalee katthor kharaboojaa aau kaleedaa sajal bikaareeai |Mango, dates have their endocarps hard; melon and watermelons though sweet release water and become unworthy of consumption very soon;
ਮਧੁ ਮਾਖੀ ਮੈ ਮਲੀਨ ਸਮੈ ਪਾਇ ਸਫਲ ਹੁਇ ਰਸ ਬਸ ਭਏ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀਐ ।
madh maakhee mai maleen samai paae safal hue ras bas bhe nahee trisanaa nivaareeai |The honey when cleaned of the bees and the wax become hard to give up eating it;
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਰਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰੀਐ ।੧੦੯।
