ਜੈਸੇ ਮਿਸਟਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਪੋਖਿ ਤੋਖਿ ਬਾਲਕਹਿ ਅਸਥਨ ਪਾਨ ਬਾਨਿ ਜਨਨੀ ਮਿਟਾਵਈ ।
jaise misattaan paan pokh tokh baalakeh asathan paan baan jananee mittaavee |

Just as a mother weans away the child from sucking her breast by feeding him with sweet meats.

ਮਿਸਰੀ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਜੈਸੇ ਅਉਖਦ ਖਵਾਵੈ ਬੈਦੁ ਮੀਠੋ ਕਰਿ ਖਾਤ ਰੋਗੀ ਰੋਗਹਿ ਘਟਾਵਈ ।
misaree milaae jaise aaukhad khavaavai baid meettho kar khaat rogee rogeh ghattaavee |

Just as a physician serves medicine coated with sugar to his patient who readily swallows it, the physician thus cures the patient.

ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲੁ ਸੀਚਿ ਸੀਚਿ ਧਾਨਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਾਨ ਪਾਲੈ ਪਰਪਕ ਭਏ ਕਟਿ ਘਰ ਮੈ ਲੈ ਲਿਆਵਈ ।
jaise jal seech seech dhaaneh krisaan paalai parapak bhe katt ghar mai lai liaavee |

Just as a farmer irrigates his fields and brings up crops or rice and wheat and when ripe, harvests them and brings it home.

ਤੈਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੁਜਾਇ ਨਿਹਕਾਮ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਜ ਪਦ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਾਮੁ ਸਿਖੈ ਪਹੁਚਾਵਈ ।੩੫੭।
taise gur kaamanaa pujaae nihakaam kar nij pad naam dhaam sikhai pahuchaavee |357|

So does a True Guru free a Sikh from the worldly affairs and fulfils his desire of consecration. Thus he raises the Sikh high up spiritually through perpetual Naam Simran. (357)
