Pauree:

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ॥
jis no too rakhavaalaa maare tis kaun |

One who has You as his Saving Grace - who can kill him?

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਜਿਤਾ ਤਿਨੈ ਭੈਣੁ ॥
jis no too rakhavaalaa jitaa tinai bhain |

One who has You as his Saving Grace conquers the three worlds.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ॥
jis no teraa ang tis mukh ujalaa |

One who has You on his side - his face is radiant and bright.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਹੂੰ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ॥
jis no teraa ang su niramalee hoon niramalaa |

One who has You on his side, is the purest of the Pure.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੁਛੀਐ ॥
jis no teree nadar na lekhaa puchheeai |

One who is blessed with Your Grace is not called to give his account.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਖੁਸੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਭੁੰਚੀਐ ॥
jis no teree khusee tin nau nidh bhuncheeai |

One with whom You are pleased, obtains the nine treasures.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਲਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹਛੰਦਗੀ ॥
jis no too prabh val tis kiaa muhachhandagee |

One who has You on his side, God - unto whom is he subservient?

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੰਦਿਗੀ ॥੮॥
jis no teree mihar su teree bandigee |8|

One who is blessed with Your Kind Mercy is dedicated to Your worship. ||8||

Raag Raamkalee

The emotions in Ramkali are like those of a wise teacher disciplining their student. The student is aware of the pain of learning, but is still conscious of the fact that ultimately it is for the best. In this way Ramkali conveys the change from all that we are familiar with, to something we are certain will be better.
