ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ।
satigur sachaa paatisaahu guramukh sachaa panth suhelaa |The true Guru is the true emperor and the way of gurmukhs is the way of happiness.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਂਵਦੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
manamukh karam kamaanvade duramat doojaa bhaau duhelaa |Mind-orientd, manmukhs, act controlled by ill intellect and tread on painful path of duality.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਾ ।
guramukh sukh fal saadhasang bhaae bhagat kar guramukh melaa |Gurmukhs attain the fruit of delight in the holy congregation and with loving devotion meet the gurmukhs.
ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਅਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੁ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਹੁ ਵੇਲਾ ।
koorr kusat asaadh sang manamukh dukh fal hai vihu velaa |In the company of falsehood and the wicked, the fruit of sufferings of the mannzukhs grows like a poisonous creeper.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਾ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਉਣਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਨਵੇਲਾ ।
guramukh aap gavaavanaa pairee paunaa nehu navelaa |Losing the ego and falling on the feet is a new path of love followed by gurmukhs.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਵਣਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਉਕੜੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।
manamukh aap ganaavanaa guramat gur te ukarr chelaa |The manmukh makes himself noticed and moves away from the Guru and the wisdom of the Guru.
ਕੂੜੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੀਹ ਬਕਰ ਖੇਲਾ ।੧।
koorr sach seeh bakar khelaa |1|The game of truth and falsehood is similar to (impossible) meeting of the lion and the goat.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਫਲੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੂੜਾਵਾ ।
guramukh sukh fal sach hai manamukh dukh fal koorr koorraavaa |The gurmukh attains the pleasure fruit of truth and the manmukh receives the bitter fruit of falsehood.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਰੁਖੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਪਛਾਵਾ ।
guramukh sach santokh rukh duramat doojaa bhaau pachhaavaa |Gurmukh is tree of truth and contentment and the wicked person is the unstable shade of duality.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਅਡੋਲੁ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਫੇਰਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੀ ਛਾਵਾਂ ।
guramukh sach addol hai manamukh fer firandee chhaavaan |Gurmukh is firm like truth and manmukh, the mind oriented is like ever shifting shade.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਇਲ ਅੰਬ ਵਣ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਵਣਿ ਵਣਿ ਹੰਢਨਿ ਕਾਵਾਂ ।
guramukh koeil anb van manamukh van van handtan kaavaan |Gurmukh is like nightingale which resides in mango groves but manmukh is like a crow which wanders in forests from place to place.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਗ ਹੈ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤੁ ਸਚਾਵਾਂ ।
saadhasangat sach baag hai sabad surat gur mant sachaavaan |The holy congregation is the true garden where gurmantr inspires the consciousness to merge in the Word, the true shade.
ਵਿਹੁ ਵਣੁ ਵਲਿ ਅਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਿਗੋਸਾਵਾਂ ।
vihu van val asaadh sang bahut siaanap nigosaavaan |Company of the wicked is like a wild poisonous creeper and the manmukh in order to develop it goes on playing many tricks.
ਜਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਸੁਆ ਵੰਸੁ ਨਿਨਾਵਾਂ ।੨।
jiau kar vesuaa vans ninaavaan |2|He is like the son of a prostitute who goes without a family name.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਵੀਆਹੀਐ ਦੁਹੀ ਵਲੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰਾ ।
guramukh hoe veeaaheeai duhee valee mil mangalachaaraa |Gurmukhs are such as the marriage of two families where sweet songs are sung on both sides and pleasures is attained.
ਦੁਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਧਾਰਾ ।
duhu mil jamai jaaneeai pitaa jaat paravaar sadhaaraa |They are such as the son born of the union of mother and father gives happiness to the parents because the lineage and family of the father gets increased.
ਜੰਮਦਿਆਂ ਰੁਣਝੁੰਝਣਾ ਵੰਸਿ ਵਧਾਈ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰਾ ।
jamadiaan runajhunjhanaa vans vadhaaee run jhunakaaraa |Clarionets are played upon the birth of a child and celebrations are arranged on the further development of the family.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਦਕ ਸੋਹਿਲੇ ਵਿਰਤੀਸਰ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਦਤਾਰਾ ।
naanak daadak sohile virateesar bahu daan dataaraa |In the homes of mother and father songs of joy are sung and the servants are given many a gift.
ਬਹੁ ਮਿਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਵੇਸੁਆ ਨਾ ਪਿਉ ਨਾਉਂ ਨਿਨਾਉਂ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
bahu mitee hoe vesuaa naa piau naaun ninaaun pukaaraa |Son of a prostitute, friendly to everyone, has no name of his father and he is known as nameless.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੰਸੀ ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਠਗ ਬਗ ਵੰਸ ਹਤਿਆਰਾ ।
guramukh vansee param hans manamukh tthag bag vans hatiaaraa |The family of gurmukhs is like paramhatis (the swans of high order which can sift milk from water i.e. truth from falsehood) and the family of the mind-oriented ones is like hypocrite cranes who kill others.

maanasarovar saadhasang maanak motee ratan amolaa |Manasarovar (lake) in the form of holy congregation contains in it many invaluable rubies, pearls and jewels.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੰਸੀ ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਡੋਲਾ ।
guramukh vansee param hans sabad surat guramat addolaa |Gurmukhs too belong to the family of swans of highest order who merging their consciousness in the Word remain stabilized.
ਖੀਰਹੁਂ ਨੀਰ ਨਿਕਾਲਦੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਨਿਰੋਲਾ ।
kheerahun neer nikaalade guramukh giaan dhiaan nirolaa |Due to their power of knowledge and meditiation, the gurmukhs sift milk from water (i.e. truth from falsehood).
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਤੋਲੁ ਨ ਤੋਲਣਹਾਰੁ ਅਤੋਲਾ ।
guramukh sach salaaheeai tol na tolanahaar atolaa |Eulogising the truth, gurmukhs become incomparable and their glory cannot be measured by any one.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬਗੁਲ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਹੈ ਘੁਟਿ ਘੁਟਿ ਜੀਆਂ ਖਾਇ ਅਬੋਲਾ ।
manamukh bagul samaadh hai ghutt ghutt jeean khaae abolaa |Manmukh, the mind-oriented, is like a crane who silently strangulates the creatures and eats them up.
ਹੋਇ ਲਖਾਉ ਟਿਕਾਇ ਜਾਇ ਛਪੜਿ ਊਹੁ ਪੜੈ ਮੁਹਚੋਲਾ ।
hoe lakhaau ttikaae jaae chhaparr aoohu parrai muhacholaa |Seeing it sitting at a pond, the creatures therein create an uproar and cries of distress.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਉ ਕੂੜੁ ਗਹਿਲਾ ਗੋਲਾ ।੪।
sach saau koorr gahilaa golaa |4|Truth is noble whereas falsehood is lowly slave.

guramukh sach sulakhanaa sabh sulakhan sach suhaavaa |The true gurmukh possesses auspicious characteristics and all good marks adorn him.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਲਖਣਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਲਖਣ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਦਾਵਾ ।
manamukh koorr kulakhanaa sabh kulakhan koorr kudaavaa |Manmukh, the self-willed, keeps false marks and besides all bad characteristics in him, be possesses all deceptive tricks.
ਸਚੁ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਚੁ ਹੈ ਕਚੁ ਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਮੁਲਿ ਮੁਲਾਵਾ ।
sach sueinaa koorr kach hai kach na kanchan mul mulaavaa |Truth is gold and falsehood is like glass. Glass cannot be priced as gold.
ਸਚੁ ਭਾਰਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਹਉਲੜਾ ਪਵੈ ਨ ਰਤਕ ਰਤਨੁ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ।
sach bhaaraa koorr haularraa pavai na ratak ratan bhulaavaa |Truth is invariably heavy and the falsehood light; there is not the least doubt in this.
ਸਚੁ ਹੀਰਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਫਟਕੁ ਹੈ ਜੜੈ ਜੜਾਵ ਨ ਜੁੜੈ ਜੁੜਾਵਾ ।
sach heeraa koorr fattak hai jarrai jarraav na jurrai jurraavaa |The truth is diamond and the falsehood stone which cannot be studded in a string.
ਸਚ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੂੜੁ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਦਿਹੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਚੋਰ ਸਾਹ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ।
sach daataa koorr mangataa dihu raatee chor saah milaavaa |The truth is bestower whereas falsehood is a beggar; like a thief and a rich person or the day and the night they never meet.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਕੂੜਿ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਫਾਵਾ ।੫।
sach saabat koorr firadaa faavaa |5|The truth is perfect and the falsehood a loser gambler running from pillar to post.

guramukh sach surang hai mool majeetth na ttalai ttalandaa |Truth in the form of gurmukhs is such a beautiful madder colour which never fades.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਰੰਗ ਹੈ ਫੁਲ ਕੁਸੁੰਭੈ ਥਿਰ ਨ ਰਹੰਦਾ ।
manamukh koorr kurang hai ful kusunbhai thir na rahandaa |The colour of mind oriented, manmukh, is like the colour of safflower which soon fades away.
ਥੋਮ ਕਥੂਰੀ ਵਾਸੁ ਲੈ ਨਕੁ ਮਰੋੜੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ।
thom kathooree vaas lai nak marorrai man bhaavandaa |The falsehood, as against truth, is like garlic contrasted to musk. At the smell of the former the nose is turned away whereas the latter's fragrance is pleasing to mind.
ਕੂੜੁ ਸਚੁ ਅਕ ਅੰਬ ਫਲ ਕਉੜਾ ਮਿਠਾ ਸਾਉ ਲਹੰਦਾ ।
koorr sach ak anb fal kaurraa mitthaa saau lahandaa |Falsehood and truth are like akk, the wild plant of sandy region and mango tree which bear bitter and sweet fruits respectively.
ਸਾਹ ਸਚੁ ਚੋਰ ਕੂੜੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਵੈ ਚੋਰੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਭਵੰਦਾ ।
saah sach chor koorr hai saahu savai chor firai bhavandaa |Truth and falsehood are like the bankar and the thief; the banker sleeps comfortably whereas the thief roams about hither and thither.
ਸਾਹ ਫੜੈ ਉਠਿ ਚੋਰ ਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੁਕਸਾਨੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਕਰੰਦਾ ।
saah farrai utth chor no tis nukasaan deebaan karandaa |The banker catches hold of the thief and gets him further punished in the courts.
ਸਚੁ ਕੂੜੈ ਲੈ ਨਿਹਣਿ ਬਹੰਦਾ ।੬।
sach koorrai lai nihan bahandaa |6|The truth ultimately puts shackles around the falsehood.

sach sohai sir pag jiau kojhaa koorr kuthaae kachhottaa |The truth adorns the head like a turban but the falsehood is like a loincloth which remains in an untidy place.
ਸਚੁ ਸਤਾਣਾ ਸਾਰਦੂਲੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਜਿਵੈ ਹੀਣਾ ਹਰਣੋਟਾ ।
sach sataanaa saaradool koorr jivai heenaa haranottaa |The truth is a potent lion and the falsehood is like an abased deer.
ਲਾਹਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜੀਐ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਿ ਵਣਜਹੁ ਆਵੈ ਤੋਟਾ ।
laahaa sach vananjeeai koorr ki vanajahu aavai tottaa |Transactions of truth bring gains whereas the trading in falsehood brings nothing but loss.
ਸਚੁ ਖਰਾ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਦਮੜਾ ਖੋਟਾ ।
sach kharaa saabaas hai koorr na chalai damarraa khottaa |Truth being pure earns applause but the falsehood like a counter coin does not get circulated.
ਤਾਰੇ ਲਖ ਅਮਾਵਸੈ ਘੇਰਿ ਅਨੇਰਿ ਚਨਾਇਣੁ ਹੋਟਾ ।
taare lakh amaavasai gher aner chanaaein hottaa |In the no-moon night, millions of stars remain there (in the sky) but the scarcity of light persists and pitch darkness prevails.
ਸੂਰਜ ਇਕੁ ਚੜ੍ਹੰਦਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਅਠ ਖੰਡ ਪਵੈ ਫਲਫੋਟਾ ।
sooraj ik charrhandiaa hoe atth khandd pavai falafottaa |With the rise of the sun the darkness dispells in all the eight directions.
ਕੂੜੁ ਸਚੁ ਜਿਉਂ ਵਟੁ ਘੜੋਟਾ ।੭।
koorr sach jiaun vatt gharrottaa |7|The relationship between the false hood and the truth is similar to the relation of the pitcher and the stone.

ਸੁਹਣੇ ਸਾਮਰਤਖ ਜਿਉ ਕੂੜੁ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ।
suhane saamaratakh jiau koorr sach varatai varataaraa |Falsehood to truth is the same as dream to reality.
ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਨਗਰ ਵਾਂਗੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪਾਹਾਰਾ ।
harichandauree nagar vaang koorr sach paragatt paahaaraa |The falsehood is like imaginary city in the sky whereas the truth is like manifest world.
ਨਦੀ ਪਛਾਵਾਂ ਮਾਣਸਾ ਸਿਰ ਤਲਵਾਇਆ ਅੰਬਰੁ ਤਾਰਾ ।
nadee pachhaavaan maanasaa sir talavaaeaa anbar taaraa |Falsehood is like the shadow of men in the river, where the image of trees, stars is inverted.
ਧੂਅਰੁ ਧੁੰਧੂਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਘਣਹਰਿ ਵਰਸਣਹਾਰਾ ।
dhooar dhundhookaar hoe tul na ghanahar varasanahaaraa |Smoke also creates mist but this darkness is not similar to the darkness caused by rain clouds.
ਸਾਉ ਨ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਸੰਕਰੈ ਦੀਪਕ ਬਾਝੁ ਨ ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ।
saau na simaran sankarai deepak baajh na mittai andhaaraa |As remembrance of sugar does not bring forth the sweet taste, the darkness cannot be dispelled without lamp.
ਲੜੈ ਨ ਕਾਗਲਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਚਿਤੇਰੇ ਸੈ ਹਥੀਆਰਾ ।
larrai na kaagal likhiaa chit chitere sai hatheeaaraa |The warrior can never fight adopting the weapons printed on paper.
ਸਚੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ।੮।
sach koorr karatoot veechaaraa |8|Such are the actions of the truth and the falsehood.

ਸਚੁ ਸਮਾਇਣੁ ਦੁਧ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੂੜ ਵਿਗਾੜੁ ਕਾਂਜੀ ਦੀ ਚੁਖੈ ।
sach samaaein dudh vich koorr vigaarr kaanjee dee chukhai |The truth is the rennet in the milk whereas falsehood is like the spoiling vinegar.
ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਣਾ ਨਕੈ ਵਲਿ ਦੁਖੈ ।
sach bhojan muhi khaavanaa ik daanaa nakai val dukhai |The truth is like eating the food through mouth but the falsehood s painful as if a grain has gone into the nose.
ਫਲਹੁ ਰੁਖ ਰੁਖਹੁ ਸੁ ਫਲੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਖਉ ਲਾਖਹੁ ਰੁਖੈ ।
falahu rukh rukhahu su fal ant kaal khau laakhahu rukhai |From fruit emerges tree and nom tree the fruit; but if shellac attacks the tree, the latter is destroyed (similarly falsehood decimates the individual).
ਸਉ ਵਰਿਆ ਅਗਿ ਰੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਭਸਮ ਕਰੈ ਅਗਿ ਬਿੰਦਕੁ ਧੁਖੈ ।
sau variaa ag rukh vich bhasam karai ag bindak dhukhai |For hundreds of years, the fire remains latent in the tree, but enraged by a small spark, it destroys the ree (similarly the falsehood ever remaining in the mind, ultimately destroys the man).
ਸਚੁ ਦਾਰੂ ਕੂੜੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਵੈਦ ਵੇਦਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖੈ ।
sach daaroo koorr rog hai vin gur vaid vedan manamukhai |The truth is medicine whereas the falsehood is a disease which inflicts the manmukhs who are without physician in the form of Guru.
ਸਚੁ ਸਥੋਈ ਕੂੜ ਠਗੁ ਲਗੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖੈ ।
sach sathoee koorr tthag lagai dukh na guramukh sukhai |Truth is companion and the falsehood a cheat who cannot make the gurmukh suffer (because they ever abide in the pleasure of truth).
ਕੂੜੁ ਪਚੈ ਸਚੈ ਦੀ ਭੁਖੈ ।੯।
koorr pachai sachai dee bhukhai |9|Falsehood perishes and the truth is ever desired.

koorr kapatt hathiaar jiau sach rakhavaalaa silah sanjoaa |Falsehood is a fake weapon whereas the truth is protector like an iron-armour.
ਕੂੜੁ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਿਤ ਜੋਹਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਮਿਤੁ ਹਿਮਾਇਤਿ ਹੋਆ ।
koorr vairee nit johadaa sach sumit himaaeit hoaa |Like enemy, falsehood always lies in ambush but the truth, like a friend is ever ready to help and support.
ਸੂਰਵੀਰੁ ਵਰੀਆਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁੜਾਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਢੋਆ ।
sooraveer vareeaam sach koorr kurraavaa karadaa dtoaa |The truth is truly a brave warrior who meets the truthful ones whereas the Her meets Hers alone.
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਥਾਇ ਹੈ ਲਰਜੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਥਾਇ ਖੜੋਆ ।
nihachal sach suthaae hai larajai koorr kuthaae kharroaa |At good places, the truth stands firmly but being in the wrong places, falsehood always shakes and trembles.
ਸਚਿ ਫੜਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਪਛਾੜਿਆ ਚਾਰਿ ਚਕ ਵੇਖਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਆ ।

chalan jinhee jaaniaa jag andar virale mihamaanaa |Word are struck upon. Rare are the guests who have accepted the going away from this world, as true.

saaeir ag na lagee mer sumer na vaau ddulaaee |Seas are never burnt by fire and air cannot shake mountains.
ਬਾਣੁ ਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਅਸਮਾਣਿ ਜਾਇ ਵਾਹੇਂਦੜੁ ਪਿਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਈ ।
baan na dhur asamaan jaae vaahendarr pichhai pachhutaaee |The arrow can never touch the sky and the shooter repents afterwards.
